Welcome to Stafford Rangers Soccer School (SRSS), formally called Steve Skelton Soccer School.
Firstly, the name of the Soccer School has changed, this has been necessary as Steve has taken the decision to no longer be involved in the activity for the foreseeable future. We are sure that you, along with us, would wish Steve well and thank him for the sterling years of service that he has provided for all of those budding footballers.
SRSS aims to provide a safe, professional and constructive environment for today’s younger footballers in Stafford and the surrounding area. Our objective is to facilitate the progression of the players into structured junior, youth and adult football.
We hope to get the players to identify with their local club (www.staffordrangersfc.co.uk/), and provide the opportunity for progression into the junior teams (details on SRFC’s Juniors website @ www.staffordrangersjuniors.moonfruit.com/) from where they could develop as a player within Stafford Rangers Football Club.
SRSS has now been brought ‘in-house’ under the guidance of senior youth coaches Mick Hathaway and Tom Holroyd until the end of the current season, if not longer.
Mick and Tom, both have around ten year’s youth coaching experience. Mick is a FA qualified Level 3/UEFA ‘B’ licensed coach, is a member of the FA Coaches Association, is an Assistant Manager to the reserves and along with Tom forms the Management Team for the current Under-18 squad. Tom has coached youngsters at Wolverhampton Wanderers in their Community Scheme; he is a FA Level 2 coach who will shortly be completing his Level 3/UEFA ‘B’ in February. Tom is also an Assistant Manager with the reserves along with his previously mentioned under 18 duties. Both Mick and Tom are also FA Level 2 Goalkeeping qualified coaches. They are both CRB checked and hold the FA’s emergency aid certificate and have attended the latest FA Safeguarding Children Workshop.
As with any changeover in management their will be a period of ‘getting to know you’ allied to some changes in housekeeping. Unfortunately we will need you to complete new information and contact sheets ASAP with all relevant sections filled in. All players shall be suitably dressed for participation in the sport of association football i.e. wearing cleaned appropriate footwear, shin guards and football kit. No jewellery, chewing gum or other unsuitable items will be allowed whilst playing and will have to be removed prior to the session.
Players are advised to bring a drink of their own in order to remain hydrated prior to and during the activity.
You are asked not to remove mud from your boots or mud from your clothing on the school car park but to do this on the field before leaving the playing area; this is at the request of the Headteacher and will help enable your Soccer School to remain in its current location.
Although we intend to use manly e-mail for distributing information such as cancellation/s of any session/s contact information for both coaches is as follows:
E-mail: srsoccerschool@hotmail.co.uk
Mick Hathaway mobile: 07976 545047;
Tom Holroyd mobile: 07973 845034.
Or on the juniors website @ www.staffordrangersjuniors.moonfruit.com/
From 7th March 2009 each session will cost £4/player per session; this is to cover such items as insurance, external coaching fees, pitch fees, new balls, new kit and all the other things that go into providing a quality and professional product.
In the future, we hope to expand the football coaching to also include specialist goalkeeping sessions, if there is sufficient demand, with the introduction of other qualified coaches who will concentrate solely on this demanding area of the game. We also intend to have ‘guest’ coaches when they are available in order to achieve a good balance of differing coaching styles, techniques, skills and experience. It has been suggested to us that we bring along and offer for sale such things as energy drinks, power bars, etc but we shall have to wait to see if this is requested by the parents and players.
We both are keen to ensure that SRSS goes from strength to strength and builds on the good work that Steve has done over many years. We hope you will agree that the Soccer School has passed into good hands and continue to support us in the future.
If you should have any ideas, suggestions, questions or require any more information then Mick and Tom will be pleased to help, listen, offer or receive advice, especially of a positive nature.
Regards,
Mick Hathaway,
Tom Holroyd.
